I've got news....I'm pregnant!

Those were the exact words my friend used last night to tell us all her big announcement.

Oh, did you think it was me?? Hahahahaha. I'm such a trickster.

It's so crazy, I'm still in shock. She's the first one of us to have a baby. I was just barely getting used to the fact that all my friends were coupled off and most of them married, I'm not ready for this next step! I mean, getting married isn't that big a change really. But parenthood... wow. She's officially in grown-up territory. Very exciting and terrifying.

So what the hell is wrong with me? I seem to be perpetually stuck with the mentality of a 23 year old. All my friends are settling down, buying homes, starting families, and I'm... I don't know what I am, but it's none of that stuff. Oh well. I guess I'll be the crazy lady who insists on being called Auntie Amanda even though there's no relation. And I'll sneak the kids some Jolt cola when I visit so that they're insanely hyper and I can be grateful that I'm not the one who has to chase after them.
And I'll give them noisy toys as gifts. And I'll tell them to ask their mommy where babies come from.  Muahahaha.....

"What's the matter with Auntie Amanda?" they'll ask. "Why doesn't Auntie Amanda wear grown-up clothes? Why doesn't Auntie Amanda have any babies? Why doesn't Auntie Amanda have a daddy to have babies with? Why does Auntie Amanda drink so much beer? Why does Auntie Amanda make me call her Auntie?" Oh, kids and all their questions. In the meantime, I'll try to focus on
my relative freedom and my lack of real financial obligations. Hell, 23 is a good time... even 6 years into it!

ok......

been through a bunch of your posts.....cause yeah, i\'m a bad blogger of late......sigh

on the Dr Dick.....what an ass....the scariest part of that to me is that if you\'ve been putting it all on hold and are in such rough shape in his eyes, i\'m, well.....fubar\'d (fucked up beyond all recognition)....i\'ve got 10 years on you, no job, living with my brother (and my child).....need to go back to school and don\'t have a clue how i\'ll accomplish it because i\'ve been a freakin non resident for the last two+yrs.....grrrrr.....stupid doc, now he\'s got me pissed off too!

On the prego friend, don\'t sweat it, we all find our time and place, some don\'t want kids, some it takes longer to be in a place where you are ready for them....I waited a long time to make sure it was the right decision and well.....look where i am now, single mom out of the blue.....with the dead beat father even.......

well.....did my drivel make you feel better? LOL! I hope so, cause now i\'m freakin depressed! Really, I\'m doing pretty good all in all, my sense of haha is intact, I know i\'ve made the right choice and well....eventually things will all work out for me (damn I\'m hoping it involves a hot rich 22 yr old this time! LOL!!!!!)

have a great weekend amanda!

All in due time though right? The big clock is ticking. :D

I\'ve got pals that are settling down while I\'m still pretending to be 18. One them was hitched last December & has already split from his wife, so I don\'t eny this marriage thing too much. ;)

Thanks for the warning Manda!  I\'ll make sure my kid knows not to take candy from strangers or Auntie Amanda!!  It sounds like you\'re very well-prepared to be Fun Auntie Amanda....

On reading the title I thought it was another New Testament virgin birth. If you\'re enjoying the beer, etc you\'ve no need to worry. Age is just a number. Repeat after me, I am 23, I am 23....

Ohhhhh pregnancy.....what a strange thing....even though I\'m a mom i\'ve yet to "grow up"......and at 30 I\'ve got no desire to go further in motherhood any time soon. Although that could change when I\'m 35 and up....then the clock starts ticking again.

Like you I\'ve got lots of travel plans a head of me, some career plans ahead of me I just can\'t be bothered to go down mommy trail again.....even if I\'m in a supportive relationship. Don\'t get me wrong I love my Babyboo but at the same time she\'s 8 now so she\'s able to travel around the world with me unlike a new baby. That\'ll be too difficult I think.

My sister is the same way, she\'s 26 and has no desire for the baby hood anytime soon so you\'re pretty normal in my humble opinion. Don\'t feel the pressure cause your friends are walking down that isle. Have fun and don\'t worry!!
